The UW's Center for Leadership in Athletics and Arizona State University co-host a Pre-Conference workshop at the ASHE Conference every year. Join us this year at the 9th Annual ASHE Pre-Conference seminar: Moments In Athletics Scholarship: Stories of Educational Activism, Disruptive Innovation & Dialogue.
How does college sport activism fit into our work in the woke academy? How do we mentor student activists, lead dialogue in class and beyond, and how do we approach college athlete activism in our scholarly activity?
Join us to engage in a discussion of current athlete activism and hear the stories of the ways in which scholars in athletics and higher education have been approaching these issues for several decades.
Learn the stories of athlete activism and strategies that help realize the vision of a woke academy. Participants will learn how to inform our research and support and encourage college athletes and their student peers to understand the power that they have on issues of sexual harassment and violence on campus, college athlete rights, and contemporary social issues beyond sport.
Hosted by the University of Washington Center for Leadership in Athletics and Arizona State University’s Higher & Post-Secondary Education Program.
